“Turkey is a European country, an Asian country, a Middle Eastern country, Balkan country, Caucasian country, neighbor to Africa, Black Sea country, Caspian Sea, all of these.” -Ahmet Davutoglu

There is something fascinating about the blending of cultures in marriage, travel and decor. The mix that is created by layering our unique differences always produces a magical beauty. Inspired by Turkish roots and creative minds, this young couple run a production company and were ready to make some changes to their home in anticipation of a party they are holding for her brother’s engagement. With some great pieces they already owned, we converted some and added new to keep the vibrant vibe going in this Pasadena abode.
The taupe couch pictured above became this navy velvet Chesterfield to match the existing chaise that was moved opposite of the couch for a more cohesive look. A vintage ceremonial robe (handed down through the family) is the perfect work of art to anchor the room. Our golden LOVE embroidered pillow sits between vibrant crewel work pillows rich with color.

Here is another look at the taupe boucle couch that became a regal Chesterfield and the angle from the other side of the living room.

Cozy and inviting, this revamped room welcomes guests and encourages conversation with the furniture configured in a square formation.
We are crazy about these hand loomed silk velvet textiles we received from Turkey. The Mrs. flipped over their rich tones and silken feel and loved the idea of making plump pillows for this vintage church pew turned bench. We just made oodles more of these in all different patterns and colorways for our studio on Motor Avenue.

If dogs could talk, this little guy would agree that the surfboard coffee table was ready to find a new home and make way for a larger piece more fitting to the vibe of this room.
Ah! So fresh and so clean! A fab vintage find, we refinished and stained this claw foot beauty in a deep rich ebony. Hammered Moroccan stools with navy velvet tops are the perfect match to the couch and chaise and add some shimmer and much needed reflection.
Jonathan Adler does it again! This kitschy horse lamp adds whimsy to one of our favorites from his Jacques collection of lucite and brass furniture. A cluster of vintage marble grapes tops off photography books.
A bone tray with hand carved bone coasters and a celestite specimen mined in Madagascar are the perfect centerpiece for the coffee table.
Another one of our fave pieces from JA, (the dining version was in our Sexy Salle a Manger) the Maxime lounge chair upholstered in shearling. Spreading the love around with these metallic applique heart pillows flanking a stunning brass and Mother of Pearl side table.
We have been searching high and low for an alternative to wood for clients who have non working fireplaces. Say hello to these mystical selenite logs from Morocco! Selenite coming from the greek word for moon and means moon glow. Not only are they gorgeous, but all crystals have power. These moon rocks deliver clarity of mind and cleanse auras of negative energy. Form and function at its best! After completing this living room, we moved on to the dining and carried it into the back yard to prepare for the big party. Stay tuned for part two…
